Social Entrepreneur

Noora Sharrab obtained her Masters degree in Political Science with a Specialization in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies at York University in Toronto, Canada. For her research, she lived for months in the Palestine refugee camps in Jordan and came to realize the vulnerable demographic of females who were unable to continue their higher education due to socio-economic conditions and cultural taboos. As a Palestinian woman whose origins are from Gaza, she felt that their overall right to education and empowerment were intrinsically linked to her own. This led her to partnering up with Dr. Hassan El-Awour and co-founding Hopes for Women In Education. Her aim was to raise funds to alleviate the obstacles facing these young women; providing them scholarships to study and facilitating them to change their destinies. By aiding them in gaining education, her vision was that she was not only impacting them directly, but also their society at large. They would then be able to have jobs, be self-sustainable, make stronger choices for marriage and lifestyle, and raise their children with awareness. She has now been living and operating Hopes regionally in Jordan for over two years.
